She walked anyway

I saw her when her heart was broken
she walked anyway

I saw her when she laid her dreams to dust
she would look, around

She trusted her heart in the lush, pink, roses
she loved the smell of dirt, palmed

She grew unspoken, adrift on the breezy porch
she sat out, too often

Her burden collected and Love’s shadow came
she leaned into the darkness

I saw her cry, in silence, no one heard her
I too can do the same

I saw her square her shoulders to the whispers
I’ve done the same

I saw her smile, and the occasions grew apart
I’m not doing the same

I saw Grace come and take her hand
I hope she does me the same

Fragility

027

A series: Impermanence
“Fragility”

respect is fragile and small
it holds together unspoken whispers
if left by the night stand
un-nurtured and broken
things held in air falls
to a heap of lost intimacies
stripped of excitement and hope
love wanders to hide at the bottom
to save itself
everything becomes barren
without respect ash forms
where love should stand
and vanishes things from air

wonderment

my pen rests softly on the ridged skin of my fingertips
and with effortless nudging, glides this black ink
such minute efforts carry me past Time’s demise
exuding me into
a whisper
a touch
a scream
and cake

I look at the moment held on smeared white page
and slip in between lines
jumping from curved letters to pillars of ‘i’
eating an ‘e’ and pointing to ‘f’
ink inking my tongue
I twirl and slide down ‘g’
is there a happier place
than to be in resting in the curves of ‘s’?

slip, I say, slip in between time
let the things collapse that holds nothing
surrender into the small spaces that whisper
dance
taste
see
and eat

I hear the caw of the crow, loud and barking
I see the bunny hopping in front my car, twice now
I feel the snow sticking to my nose, burning
it’s these letters and words that lose me into forever
and I remember what needs to be kept
it’s here that I find things, that bind me
from things missing, into blessings
