She walked anyway
I saw her when her heart was broken she walked anyway
I saw her when she laid her dreams to dust
she would look, around
She trusted her heart in the lush, pink, roses
she loved the smell of dirt, palmed
She grew unspoken, adrift on the breezy porch
she sat out, too often
Her burden collected and Love’s shadow came
she leaned into the darkness
I saw her cry, in silence, no one heard her
I too can do the same
I saw her square her shoulders to the whispers
I’ve done the same
I saw her smile, and the occasions grew apart
I’m not doing the same
I saw Grace come and take her hand
I hope she does me the same
